Assistance amount under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan-Nikah Yojana to be revised

Bhopal: Assistance amount under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan-Nikah Yojana will be revised. This was informed at a review meeting of Panchayats and Rural Development Department chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today. Shri Chouhan accepted the proposal to enhance the assistance amount at the meeting. Formal orders will be issued soon.

As per revision, now very necessary goods will be purchased under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan-Nikah Yojana only through purchase committee. These materials will include Mangalsutra, Bichhiya, anklets and 11 household utensils worth about Rs. 5 thousand. Amount to the tune of 7 thousand will be transferred in lump sum in bride’s bank account directly through e-banking for other material like furniture, LPG connection, pressure cooker, iron bed, quilt-mattress, clothes etc. Bride will purchase things of her choice using this amount. In this way, complaints like receipt of less or poor quality material will be eradicated.

Under the scheme, now Rs. 10 thousand will be deposited in beneficiary girl’s fixed deposit for 5 years. Organiser of mass marriage will be provided Rs. 3 thousand.
