BHEL Bhopal shows huge growth last year
BHOPAL: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) India’s giant Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), Bhopal Unit has registered a record of 18 percent growth over the previous year contributing 1,219 crore Indian rupees ($274.58 million USD) to the turnover during 2010-11. In the last fiscal, the turnover was 1,027 crore rupees ($231.332 million).
In a press conference, Executive director of BHEL Bhopal M. K. Dube announced, he said the company had export orders in hand worth about 1,700 crore rupees ($382.76 million) from countries like Vietnam, Tajikistan, Rwanda and Bhutan.
Also exported electrical equipments to Italy, Afghanistan and Nepal, he added.
BHEL Bhopal unit has registered 13 percent increase in its overall turnover during the fiscal year 2010-2011.
The record production turnover was to the tune of 4,202 crore rupees ($946.077 million) during 2010-11 and the profit before tax (PBT) being 648 crore rupees (1$45.897 million), which is seven percent increase as compared to the last fiscal year.
The company achieved this profit after absorbing an additional amount of 94 crore rupees ($21.164 million) toward personnel payments.
The turnover in the previous financial year was 3,708 crore rupees ($834.853 million).
Congratulating the employees, he said the record production turnover target could be met with the dedication and team efforts of the employees only.
Dube said the Bhopal unit made value addition at the rate of 17 percent and the figure this year after addition stood at 1,897 crore rupees ($427.856 million).
The year 2010-11 has been significant for the engineering and product development sector too where India’s first 765 kV, 500 MVA single phase auto transformer has been developed and 1,200 kV, 333 MVA indigenously developed auto transformer is in its final stage, said Dube.
Also announced the target for 20011-12 will be of 5,010 crore rupees ($1,128 million) and said it is very competitive keeping in mind the current competitive economic scenario. “But the employees of BHEL, Bhopal can achieve any target.
