In a humanitarian move, special health camps will be organised for the homeless at Yadgar-e-Shahjahani and Hamidia Hospital Rain Baseras on New Year’s Eve, while similar camps will be held for labourers on New Year’s Day.
In a media brief, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Prabhakar Tiwari said, “The camps will offer health check-ups and awareness sessions for both the homeless and labourers.”
On 1st January, camps will be organised at the worker shelters at Karond Chowk and Parihar Chowk.
Voluntarily launched by health department officials and staff, the camps are designed for the convenience of homeless residents and workers in the state capital.
The camps at the homeless shelters will begin at 7 PM, while those at the worker shelters will start at 7 AM. These camps will offer screenings for non-communicable diseases and skin issues.
Ayushman cards and Aadhar IDs will also be issued at the camps. Mental health screenings, counselling, screenings for vector-borne diseases, and eye check-ups will be provided. Free pathology tests will be available.
The camps are being organised in coordination with the district administration and the municipal corporation.
The support of the Department of Social Justice, Food and Civil Supplies Department, and the Women and Child Development Department is also being enlisted for the success of the initiative.
