The civic body is hoping to collect Rs 600 Crore in taxes from homeowners this year

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) took tough action against defaulters on Thursday, seizing eight properties over unpaid taxes. Meanwhile, three defaulters rushed to clear dues, avoiding property attachment.
Officials targeted businesses with outstanding property tax, water charges, and solid waste fees. Among the seized properties were Hills View Marriage Garden near Kaliyasot Dam, shops in Jyoti Shopping Centre, and Hotel Hidden Paradise in Suraj Nagar. Defaulter Anand Kumar Gupta and two others cleared dues via NEFT just in time.
Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan ordered a strict crackdown, with zonal officers leading teams to seize properties owing between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 14 lakh. The drive aims to push revenue collection before March 31.
With the Rs 600 crore target looming, BMC staff are working overtime, sending SMS reminders and conducting weekend operations. The pressure is on, and officials are determined to recover every possible rupee before the financial year closes.
