BMC Steps Up Anti-Dengue, Malaria Efforts
Civic body seeks citizen cooperation to overcome the dreaded larvae.
Bhopal
Intensifying the campaign against mosquito-borne diseases, the Bhopal civic body continued extensive checks for the disease-causing larvae at various locations in the state capital.
Teams from the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) conducted intensive checks to discover breeding areas for the vector-borne diseases and ordered the spraying of pesticides at these locations.
Officials at the civic health department are counseling residents and advising them to maintain cleanliness in their vicinity. Several households and establishments have also been penalized for causing the breeding of the disease-causing larvae.
Seeking cooperation from citizens, officials are persisting with an educational campaign aimed at arresting the spread of the disease in the high-risk post-monsoon season.
Residents are being told to maintain hygiene and discard any used tires and other goods that may hold stagnant water and become breeding grounds for the dreaded larvae. They are advised to regularly change water in containers; failing which, they may be penalized by the civic body.
