Cabinet expansion in MP in a day or two, Rajendra Shukla and Gaurishankar Bisen’s likely to be inducted
After a long wait, the Shivraj cabinet is finally going to be expanded. MLA from Rewa Rajendra Shukla and MLA from Balaghat and Chairman of Backward Classes Commission Gaurishankar Bisen figure prominently. Four ministers are to be made according to the vacant posts. An agreement can also be reached on the names of Pritam Lodhi, Rahul Lodhi or Jalam Singh. BJP State President VD Sharma said – The Chief Minister has the special right to expand the cabinet. Whatever will happen regarding the cabinet will soon come to the fore.
Presently there are 30 ministers with the Chief Minister. The total posts are 35 including the Chief Minister. Accordingly, four posts are vacant. However, the new ministers will get only one and a half month’s time to work.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has met Governor Mangubhai Patel late on Tuesday evening. Ministers will be sworn in in a day or two. Through this expansion, the BJP is trying to bring displeasure and regional balance with the caste equation before the assembly elections. Former minister Rajendra Shukla from Vindhya is almost certain. Gaurishankar Bisen’s name is from Mahakaushal.
Party sources say that recently when Union Minister Amit Shah visited and state election in-charge Bhupendra Yadav gave feedback, it came to the fore that many big leaders are angry due to non-expansion of the cabinet. After this, a week before the cabinet expansion was agreed upon.

Uma Bharti had reached Lodhi’s house in Jalalpura village (Pichhor, Shivpuri) to meet him. Lodhi was expelled from the BJP in August 2022 for commenting on Brahmin society. He returned to BJP in March 2023.

In the OBC category, one from the Lodhi community has to be included in the cabinet. MLA Jalam Singh Patel’s name is with Rahul Lodhi. There is talk of bringing a name from the tribal community as well. The names are likely to be agreed upon soon.

Uma and Lodhi may get a chance to help voters
A Lodhi MLA can be included in the cabinet to help Lodhi voters in the state and persuade former CM Uma Bharti to campaign in the elections. Among these, the name of Jalam Singh Patel, three-time MLA from Narsinghpur, is doing the rounds. He has been a minister of state once. At the same time, Uma’s nephew and first-time MLA from Khargapur Rahul Singh Lodhi may also get a place in the cabinet.
Gaurishankar Bisne said- I have got information about cabinet expansion through the media. No official information has been received from the CM’s side. If the cabinet is expanded, the party will be benefited directly and indirectly. On the question of removing displeasure through cabinet expansion, Bisen said – there is no such thing as displeasure.
Gaurishankar Bisen is the 7th time BJP MLA from Balaghat. He became the President of Village Hitkarini Samiti in 1971. In 1978-80, he was the Director of District Cooperative Bank and Land Development Bank Balaghat and Vice President of Balaghat District BJP. Became MLA in 1985, 1990, 1993 and 2003. Has been a member and chairman of several committees of the Vidhansabha.
Elected to the Lok Sabha in 1998 and 2004. Standing Committee of Lok Sabha – Member of Consultative Committee on Defence, Energy, Railways, Agriculture, Food and Civil Supplies. From December 25, 2000, he was also the state president of BJP Kisan Morcha, state in-charge of BJP Minority Front and Cooperative Cell. He was the Vice President of Madhya Pradesh BJP thrice.
Became a member of the 13th Legislative Assembly in 2008. He was the Minister of Public Health Engineering, Cooperation. Became a member of the 14th Legislative Assembly in 2013 and was made the Minister of Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Department. Presently he is 7th time MLA.
Rajendra Shukla, a four-time MLA from Rewa seat, is almost certain to get a place in the Shivraj cabinet. Rajendra Shukla is a big face of BJP in Vindhya region. He became an MLA for the first time in 2003 and since then has been winning elections continuously. In the 2018 elections, BJP got a big success in Vindhya. The party’s candidates won all the eight seats in Rewa district. Rajendra Shukla has been a minister in the MP government earlier also. Now ministers can be made again.
