Camps to be held to benefit the poor with welfare schemes: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that camps will be held at Bhopal to benefit eligible persons under schemes being implemented for welfare of the poor. He directed to hold a camp for making BPL cards at 12 No. Bus Stop on February 12 at 10 am. He was addressing a public meeting at Bus Stop No. 12 here today.

The Chief Minister said that it is a Jan Panchayat to solve problems of all people. He said that he has run the state government like a family. Bhopal’s City Government will also function similarly. He said that municipal corporation should chalk out a scheme to contrast toilet in the houses of the poor which do not have toilets. Process should be started to construct nullahs afresh. Efforts should be made that every household gets Narmada water. Process will be undertaken to merge colonies developed by private investors in Municipal Corporation. Pattas will given to people whose land falls in submergence area of Kaliasot Dam. Lease rent of lands will not be increased arbitrarily. It will be rationalized. Residents of shanties/urban slums will not be sent to other places with force. He directed to chalk out DPR for constructing new sewer system from E-1 to E-8. He said that arrangements for both the rich and poor will be made in the sewer project.

The Chief Minister said that he has made efforts to evolve a new political culture in the state. Government and society will pave way for development jointly. People of the Government will function among people. Government will run with consensus of all. Schemes will be chalked out with general consensus. He said that the state government has chalked out a number of schemes for welfare of all. But, the poorest of the poor is priority of the state government. He said that everyone has right over air, water and land. But they are not used by everyone. Therefore, the state government realises taxes from those who use these resources and spend the amount on welfare of the poor. Schemes have been chalked out for welfare of domestic women workers, handcart pullers, footpath vendors etc. It is the duty of the government and society to ensure that benefits of these schemes reach the needy. He informed that welfare schemes have been implemented for labourers by Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board including education of their children, family health and assistance in case of accidents.

On the occasion, Shri Chouhan administered a pledge to all for de-addiction and sending all children to schools. He asked corporators to ensure cleanliness in slums, disposal of water and proper roads.

MLA Shri Surendranath Singh and newly elected Mayor Shri Alok Sharma also spoke on the occasion. Shri Nikhilesh Sharma proposed a vote of thanks.
