CBEC Sidetracks Powers of Bhopal Commissioner, Transfers Six Superintendents
In an unprecedented move, the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) transferred six superintendents sidetracking powers of the Bhopal Commissioner, said media reports.
They were transferred on their plea that they had been posted in a cigarette factory of Bhopal region for a pretty long time, reports said.
Usually, top officers sitting in a Commissionerate are empowered to affect such transfers and it’s for the first time CBEC took the step itself.
Reports didn’t name the six officers who have been transferred.
Four of the six transferred Superintendents are President’s Medal awardees and two of them have never worked in the cigarette factory in question, reports said.
Moreover, the transfers were made without seeking history of previous postings of the six transferred superintendents, said reports
