Central study team tours Dhar district to took stock of damaged crops

Bhopal: The Central study team toured villages Dharawara, Talwara, Dedla and Bagdi in Dhar district and took stock of crops damaged by excessive rains and hailstorm. The Central team comprised Union Joint Director Shri Sanjay Lohiya, Deputy Commissioner, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Development Shri R.G. Babal and Assistant Advisor to Union Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Shri Saleem Hyder. Indore divisional commissioner Shri Sanjay Dube, collector Shri C.B. Singh and other officers accompanied the team.

First the Central team visited village Dharawara and inspected loss to wheat crop in the field of farmer Bhairu Singh. The affected farmer told the team that his wheat crop in 4 Bigha has been damaged extensively. Farmer Narayan showed the team the damage to his Dollar gram crop. The team also inspected farmers Jagdish and Suresh’s damaged wheat crops in the village.

The team inspected crops loss at villages Dedla, Talwara and Bagdi also. At Talwara, farmer Kunwarlal Choudhary showed his crop damaged by hailstorm. Farmers had also come with specimen of crops of wheat, gram, garlic, onion etc. The team inspected damaged crops and talked to farmers. The team was informed by farmers crops were damaged by frost last year, then soybean crops suffered loss in Kharif and now consecutive third time their wheat, gram and other crops have been damaged.

Farmers at village Talwara and Bagdi informed the due to continuous rains for 3-4 days after hailstorm on February 26, their razed wheat crops have started rotting from beneath.

Collector Shri C.B. Singh informed that team that all tahsils in the district have been affected due to hailstorm and cyclone. Survey of crop loss has been conducted in the district. He also made available figures of crop loss assessment to the Central team.
