Chouhan Happy with People’s Near Clear Mandate

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, though upset over his party’s defeat in the recently concluded parliamentary elections, has said that he is happy that people have given an almost clear mandate to the new government, thus freeing it from coercion of dense coalition.

“If senior BJP leader L K Advani had become the Prime Minister, the future of the country would have been different,” Chouhan said.

However, Chouhan added: “But as a person I am happy that the people have given a clear mandate (though a little bit short) and the government has enough opportunity to perform.”

“The people have given their due to those who indulged in politics of manipulation and have given a clear verdict and adequate opportunity for the government to perform. Besides, it has shown the right place to those parties which have enjoyed fruits of power for over four years and then parted ways,” he said.

The chief minister said that the regional parties and the Left “misused” their position as a key ally by exerting “undue” pressure over the government every now and then and were of the opinion that without them nothing will happen.

He said that the people this time have grounded them liberating the government from the pulls and pressures of the allies.
