Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated several projects on Wednesday and laid the foundation stone for several others at a programme marking Swachhta Divas, observed on Gandhi Jayanti every year.

The projects, amounting to a cumulative expenditure of ₹43.39 crore, provide a much-needed upgrade for sanitation services in the city.

Yadav underlined Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on cleanliness and sanitation and lauded the service provided by sanitation workers. He was speaking at a Swachhta Day event at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre.

Yadav added that the Prime Minister has provided relief to women by constructing toilets in every village. The state government is making every effort for the welfare of sanitation workers and their families. This work is a true embodiment of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals and a tribute to him.

He noted that, under the inspiration of Prime Minister Modi, over 42,500 sanitation activities were conducted across 413 urban bodies in the state, with significant citizen participation.

The state has eradicated 968 black spots and enhanced the surroundings, and over 100,000 students participated in cleanliness awareness programmes across more than 800 schools. Urban bodies have also been awarded under the star ranking system.

Yadav provided appointment certificates to the dependants of 26 deceased employees of the municipal corporation who served diligently. He also reviewed 125 new door-to-door CNG vehicles, six new hook loaders, two shredding machines, and a litter picking machine, inaugurating them with a flag-off.

Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Bhopal district in charge, Chaitanya Kashyap, stated that it is the result of Prime Minister Modi’s vision that cleanliness has become a public movement.

Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Vishwas Sarang, remarked that cleanliness will lead society towards the goal of a healthy India.
