CM dierected to increase public transport facilities in state

Bhopal: Process to obtain permits for public transport in rural areas will be simplified. There will be no limit for permits and vehicles on these roads. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to pay special attention to increase public transport facilities in the state. Public transport should be specially expanded in rural areas.
Shri Chouhan reviewed Transport Department here today. Transport Minister Shri Bhupendra Singh and Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa were present on the occasion.
The meeting decided that any number of permits will be provided to eligible persons for 7 + 1 capacity transport vehicles. Proposals to rationalise taxes on inter-state passenger buses, state’s taxi vehicles and taxis from outside the state were presented at the meeting.
For promoting tourism, the meeting gave in-principle sanction that all-India permit buses’ fee of Rs. 800 per seat per month will be reduced to Rs. 700 and only Rs. 50 per day will be charged from motor cab taxi (12+1 seats) from outside the state. If such vehicles from outside the state remain in the state for over 7 day, they will have to pay Rs. 100 per day per week per person. At present, there is provision of Rs. 50. Proposal for setting up electronic weighing machines in Morena, Katni, Satna, Hoshangabad and Shivpuri was also approved for preventing overloading of minor minerals .
