The government will soon initiate steps to settle the dues of workers at JC Mills in Gwalior and other defunct mills in the state, said Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday.
Yadav said the state government is committed to the welfare of workers. Following the precedent of Hukumchand Mills in Indore and Vinod Mills in Ujjain, the government will soon provide relief to over 8,000 workers of the mill, which closed down three to four decades ago.
Yadav reviewed the premises of the defunct production facility and gathered information on the land and other assets of the company.
Mill workers and their family members have expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, the first to hear their concerns.
They are now hopeful that their long-standing dues will be cleared. On this occasion, Energy Minister Pradyumna Singh Tomar also expressed appreciation on behalf of the workers.
Yadav reiterated that his government is focused on finding solutions rather than engaging in prolonged litigation. He assured that the state’s case in court would be presented in favour of the workers to ensure the settlement of their dues.
Instructions have already been given to officials, and the survey of the mill’s land and assets has been completed.
Yadav said that Prime Minister Modi has identified the poor, women, youth, and farmers as the nation’s four pillars, and the state government is dedicated to strengthening these groups.
