Chief Minister Mohan Yadav attended a special screening of Chhava on Monday, a film on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The Madhya Pradesh government has declared the film tax-free.

The screening took place at the open-air theatre in the Ashoka Lake View complex. Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, Deputy CM Jagdish Devda, cabinet ministers, and other dignitaries joined Yadav at the event. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, received praise for its depiction of the 17th-century Maratha ruler’s struggles.

Yadav described the film as inspiring and patriotic, stating that the state government will support historical films that showcase India’s glorious past. He reaffirmed Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to promoting cinema that highlights the sacrifices of India’s brave rulers and patriots.

Emphasising Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s courage, Yadav said he was as valiant as his father, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He commended the film for bringing history to life, congratulating the filmmakers, director, and actors for their effort in recreating events from over 300 years ago.

Yadav also reflected on global instability, contrasting it with India’s progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the country is advancing while preserving its heritage. Concluding the evening, he recited a poem honouring Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s bravery, adding a poetic touch to the patriotic occasion.
