CM transfers Rs 9.83 cr to cow dung vendors, others

Suraji Gaon Yojana and Godhan Nyaya Yojana have unleashed major positive change in Chhattisgarh’s rural areas, transforming lives of people, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Monday.

These schemes have empowered the villagers and farmers and are proving to be the lifeline of the rural economy, he said during a virtual programme here.

On this occasion, Baghel transferred Rs 9.83 crores online under Godhan Nyay Yojana. A total of Rs 48 lakh was paid to cow dung vendors and Rs 9.35 crore was paid as dividend to Gauthan committees and women self-help groups.

Within a year of the launch of Godhan Nyay Yojana, nearly 1,160 Gauthans have become self-supporting.

The stronger the system, the more prosperous agriculture and farmers will be. He appealed to farmers to plant Napier grass in the pasture to provide green fodder for the animals in the Gauthans.

Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Ravindra Choubey were present at the event.

Choubey said that so far 48.56 lakh quintals of cow dung have been procured. This is expected to produce about 19 lakh quintals of vermi and super compost. So far, vermi compost worth Rs 42.20 crores has been sold. He said that about Rs 29 crores have been paid as dividend under the scheme to Gauthan committees and women self-help groups.

Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. M. Geeta said the activities have benefited more than 170,000 farmers practicing animal husbandry, other backward classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, women and landless people.
