Congress has questioned the Madhya Pradesh government

BHOPAL: In a decision to allot 20 acres of prime land in Bhopal at a nominal rental of Re1 per annum to a trust that has senior BJP leaders such as LK Advani, M Venkaiah Naidu and former chief minister Kailash Joshi as trustees, Congress has questioned the Madhya Pradesh government.

Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari asked, “When the land scams, involving Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa and his family members had surfaced, BJP president Nitin Gadkari had observed that the acts could be deemed immoral, but not were not illegal. Now we want to know as to whether this allotment of land at Re1 per annum is illegal or immoral.”

He also charged them giving the details of the land allotment. Tewari said the Kushabhau Thakre Training Institute was allotted land even before it was registered. “By a cabinet notification, the land was allotted to the trust six months before it was registered.”

Even though the Bhopal district magistrate had recommended that the land should be allotted at a premium of Rs4.6 crore, the trust paid only Rs25 lakhs, Tiwari said.
