Culture Department should establish 4 major festivals international level

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed the Culture Department to establish 4 major festivals at international level including Khajuraho Festival, Tansen Samaroh, Kalidas Samaroh and Lokrang Utsav. Maximum number of people should be associated with these events. District level committee should be formed by merging district archaeology association and district tourism publicity committee. The Chief Minister directed to promote private sector participation in archaeology and culture. Shri Chouhan reviewed activities of Cultural Department here today. Minister of State for Culture Shri Surendra Patwa and Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister directed to chalk out a time-bound programme for preservation and survey of archaeological monuments of the state. For this, funds received under 13th Finance Commission should be used properly. He directed that 120 km long wall found in Raisen district should be surveyed under supervision of experts. The wall spreads from Badi to Udaipur in Raisen district and is covered under thick forest. It may become a centre of attraction for tourists. Shri Chouhan said that Bhopal’s international level archaeological museums should be widely publicised. Bhopal has 16 archaeological museums. Arrangements should be made for showing them to tourists. Survey should be undertaken to form art groups for display of art of district level artistes. Results of School of Drama set up at Bhopal should be assessed. Construction of memorials of Shaheed Tantya Bhil and Shaheed Bhima Nayak should be completed within time-limit. Vacancies of principals in music colleges should be filled up at the earliest.
The meeting was informed that a scheme has been chalked out to award writers of regional dialects in the state. Each writer of every regional language will be given prize money of Rs. 51 thousand. Culture Department has chalked out a proposal to constitute Folk Artiste Welfare Board. A function will be held to mark completion of construction of Tribal Museum at Bhopal. Excavation for archaeological survey is being undertaken in 10 tahsils of the state.
Sanchi Buddhist University to be developed as international university: Chief Minister Shri Chouhan directed to develop Sanchi Buddhist University as international university. Teaching and infrastructure facilities should be developed accordingly. Study centres of Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Thailand should be set up in the university. He reviewed progress made till date in the university. He said that total transparency should be exercised in filling up posts in the university.
The meeting was informed that 6 certificate courses have been started by the university, which will be conducted under the guidance of global level subject experts. University’s temporary premises is being set up near Sanchi. As many as 353 posts have been created for the university. Course formulation is underway.
