The Central Bank of India and MANIT kicked off the “Hackathon on Cyber Security” on Thursday at Swami Vivekananda Auditorium. This Inter-NIT event runs from March to July 2025, with AI-driven fraud detection at its core.

Organised by the Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering departments, the event saw DIG Cyber Cell Madhya Pradesh, Niranjan Vayangankar, as the chief guest. Also present were Mohit Kodnani, General Manager (IT), and Tarsem Singh Zira, Zonal Head (Bhopal), as guests of honour. The event is being coordinated by Jyoti Singhai, with support from Deepak Singh Tomar, RK Pateria, Dheeraj Agrawal, and Mithul Ahirwar. RN Yadav represented the organising department.

The hackathon challenges participants to build an AI-powered fraud detection and prevention system for digital and UPI transactions in public sector banks. The system must analyse transactions in real time, recognise suspicious patterns, and adapt to evolving fraud tactics while keeping false alarms low.

With a top prize of Rs 5 lakh and a consolation prize of Rs 1 lakh, the competition is all about pushing the boundaries of cybersecurity innovation. The event wraps up with a prize distribution ceremony, celebrating the best solutions.
