Dates fixed for preparations of photo electoral rolls of January 2013

Bhopal: The Election Commission of India has fixed dates for special summary revision of photo electoral rolls as per date of January 1, 2013. Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Shri Jaideep Govind has directed district collectors to ensure execution of activities pertaining to electoral rolls as per schedule.

Draft of electoral rolls will be published on October 1. Claims and objections can be filed from October 1 to 31. Photo electoral rolls will be read out and verified at Gram Sabhas and meetings of local bodies from October 6 to 9. Booth level officers appointed by the Election Office and booth level agents appointed by political parties will jointly visit door-to-door on Sundays on October 7, 14 and 21 for including names of eligible voters left out in photo electoral rolls.

Directives have been given to redress objections regarding photo electoral rolls positively till December 1, 2012. Photographs of voters for electoral rolls will be collected and updated supplementary electoral rolls completed from December 1 to 31. Final publication of electoral rolls will be made on January 5, 2013. The Chief Electoral Officer has directed collectors to start voters’ assistance centres in every Vidhan Sabha constituency positively till December 15, 2012.
