Dindori Firing: Two Police Officers Suspended
Bhopal — The Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday suspended two police officers for alleged dereliction of duty in connection with the firing incident in Dindori district on Tuesday.
Those placed under suspension are Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) JP Uike and Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) RP Tripathi.
Three people were killed and over a dozen suffered injuries in the incident that occurred when police officers attempted to disperse a road blockade, at the Amaldihya village, organized by villagers seeking police action to trace Narain Padwar – an advocate missing for nearly two months.
The police attempts to end the blockade met with a violent response from the villagers who pelted stones injuring nearly a dozen personnel.
The police opened fire to disperse the violent mob leading to the deaths.
Meanwhile, a day long strike was observed in the area on Wednesday
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced a minister magisterial inquiry into the incident and an ex-gratia payment of Rs.1 lakh to the families of those killed in the incident.
The bandh was reported to have remained peaceful.
