Effective amendments in state’s tourism and land disposal policies: Surendra Patwa
Bhopal: Minister of State for Tourism and Culture Shri Surendra Patwa addressing a sectoral seminar “Making MP The Tourist State” has said that amendments have been made in tourism and land disposal policies for promoting tourism in Madhya Pradesh. He said that exemption has been given from luxury tax in the new policy. Exemption from luxury tax will be applicable for 8 years for new hotels. The exemption will be for 5 years in Indore and Bhopal. Luxury tax will not be imposed on rooms upto Rs. 3000 rent. Heritage hotels will be eligible for exemption for 10 years. Shri Patwa said that policy and intention of Madhya Pradesh government are sincere. If you do not invest now, you will rue later, he added.
Shri Patwa said that there is immense potential of religious, forest and water body tourism in the state. He informed that 6 crore 21 lakh tourists visited Madhya Pradesh during year 2013. Shri Patwa said that efforts are underway to enhance air connectivity in the state.
I will shoot all my films in Madhya Pradesh only: Director Prakash Jha
Noted film producer and director Shri Prakash Jha said that Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan remains only one telephone call away. As a result, problems are solved immediately. I will shoot all my films in Madhya Pradesh only. He said the he would soon start shooting of 4 films in and around Bhopal. Shri Jha informed that he is setting up a film studio on 22 acre land near Kerwa for shooting for films and TV serials. He said that the atmosphere prevailing in Madhya Pradesh is not available in any other state of the country. Shri Jha said that tourism hotels of Madhya Pradesh are not inferior to 5-star hotels. Here employees are efficient and courteous.
Secretary Tourism Shri Hari Ranjan Rao informed that Madhya Pradesh has the largest forest cover in the country. As many as 16 tourism zones have been constituted in the state. A number of facilities will be given for investment in these tourist zones. Adequate land bank is also available near tourist destinations. State’s new aviation policy is also being framed. Shri Rao also informed about other measures taken by the state government to promote tourism. Office-bearers of Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Shri S.M. Sherwani also working in hospitality sector suggested that hotels should also be included in basic infrastructure.
Member of Hotels and Restaurants Association Shri Suneet Kothari said that connectivity and state’s marketing are vital for promoting tourism. He said that Madhya Pradesh is the first state to give capital subsidy. He said that extension of interest subsidy should also be given.
Yes Bank’s CEO Shri Tushar Pandey said that society should be connected with tourism. CEO of Indian Federation of Tourism Shri Ashish Gupta said that Madhya Pradesh should be made entry point of the country. MD of State Tourism Development Corporation, Shri Raghavendra Singh informed about tourism development works in Madhya Pradesh. Literature pertaining to tourism was distributed to all participants.
