Ensure completion of worlds biggest Rewa solar power project within time-limit
Bhopal. IFC Asia-Pacific Head Sushri Isabel Chatterton met New & Renewable Energy Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla at his residence here today and informed about major activities for world’s biggest ultra mega solar power project in Rewa district. Shri Shukla said that it is an ambitious project. All works pertaining to it must be completed within time-limit so that the project starts within scheduled time. Principal Secretary New & Renewable Energy Shri Manu Shrivastava was also present on the occasion.
Shri Shukla apprised himself of latest information about project’s progress and expressed satisfaction over it. He directed that all works pertaining to it must be completed within time-limit so that the project starts within scheduled deadline of June 30, 2017.
The Minister was informed about successfully conducted pre-bid meeting for the Rewa project on April 1, 2016. Large number of major companies of renewable energy sector from India and abroad participated in it. It was also informed that large number of developers are expected to take part in process for selection of developers in view of encouraging feedback being received about the project. Information was also given about next phases of pre-bid process for implementation of the project.
Rewa ultra mega solar power project
Rewa ultra mega solar power project is the biggest in the world being built at one place. It has become pride of Madhya Pradesh. People of not only India, but also in the world are eager about it. During his Bhopal visit the other day, US Ambassador in India Shri Richard Verma evinced keen interest in the project. In view of project’s mega size and global partnership, services of consultants of International Finance Corporation have been availed on the basis of technical, legal, commercial and regulatory basis. World Bank is making available loans at low interest for the project. Through these funds, project’s basic structure and power transmission system (33X220 KV) are being developed. Power Grid of India is constructing a 400 KV sub-station for inter-state power coordination. Power generated by the project will be purchased by MP Power Management Company and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
