Ensure stray cattle is not seen on roads, streets– MP CM Chouhan
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that stray cattle should not be seen roaming on roads and streets in the state.
For this, the construction of gaushalas should be completed by making a time-bound programme. People should come forward to prepare cowsheds with the spirit of service, he said.
Chouhan was reviewing the Gaupalan avam Pashudhan Samvardhan Board in Mantralaya on Tuesday.
Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Gaupalan avam Pashudhan Samvardhan Board Swami Akhileshwaranand Giri, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains and related senior officers were present.
Chouhan said that the Salariya Gau Abhyaranya (cow sanctuary) has been successful. Efforts should be made to open similar cow shelters. People should not be inconvenienced due to the cattle roaming outside. Efforts are necessary in this direction.
It was told that according to the cattle census 2019, there are 1 crore 87 lakh gau vansh in the state. There are 8 lakh 54 thousand destitute cows in the state. 627 Gaushalas are being run by voluntary organizations for destitute gau vansh. There are about 1 lakh 84 thousand gau vansh in this. There are 93 thousand gau vansh in 1135 cow shelters built under MNREGA. Along with this, 19.95 cowsheds are under construction and ready for operation. Their capacity is 2 lakh gau vansh. Arrangements have to be made for the remaining 5 lakh 60 thousand gau vansh.
Chouhan said that experiments should be started at other places like Salaria Abhyaranya. He instructed to conduct this experiment in Jabalpur. Other proposals should also be tested. The model of keeping gau vansh is also successful in Basaman Mama and this experiment must be conducted elsewhere as well. Cow shelters should be allowed to open when the conditions are fulfilled. Disposal of dead gau vansh and other animals should be done respectfully. The smuggling of cattle should be monitored. Many types of products are made from cow dung and cow urine.
Natural farming will be encouraged. Gaushalas should be empowered financially through the sale of their various products. The principle of waste-to-best should be adopted. Cattle rearers should tie their cattle and refrain from leaving them outside. An action plan should be prepared for the purchase of cow products.
