Factory workers to get holiday for casting vote

Bhopal: Factory workers will get holiday to cast their votes during Panchayat general elections 2014-15. The Labour Commissioner has issued directives to factory owners to give weekly holiday to labourers on the polling day.

The factories which work throughout week have been instructed for two-hour layoff to labourers in the first and second shifts for casting their ballots. The first shift should be closed two hours earlier and the second should be started two hours late. The factories with continuous process should allow their workers to cast vote one by one. No deductions will be made from their wages for this holiday.
Directives have been given to concerning urban area shops and commercial establishments to give weekly holiday to their workers on the day of voting. Facility to vote one-by-one will be given to labourers of the establishments which do not give weekly off.
It is noteworthy that first phase polling of Panchayat general elections will be held on January 13, second January 31 and third on February 19, 2015 from 7 am to 3 pm.
