Farmers with 1-acre land also to benefit from Kapildhara wells
Bhopal: In Madhya Pradesh, benefit of Kapildhara wells under MNREGA will also be provided to small farmers possessing upto 1-acre agricultural land. This benefit will be provided to SC, ST, BPL families of general cateogy, beneficiaries of Indira Aawas Yojana, land reform beneficiaries, small and marginal farmers and forest right lease holders.
Apart from providing permanent livelihood resources to marginal and poor farmers through Kapildhara sub-plan of MNREGA, the State Government has also directed to increase production and productivity. On the initiative of Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava, limit of agriculture holding has been reduced below one hectare for benefiting under Kapildhara sub-plan.
It is noteworthy that so far 2 lakh 75 thousand beneficiaries have been benefited under the scheme and provided permanent livelihood resources. The scheme has increased area under irrigation in the state by 4 lakh hectare.
