Fire brigade service in all 360 urban bodies in state

Bhopal: Urban Administration Department has made effective efforts to strengthen fire brigade and emergency services to control fire incidents in urban areas of the state during last 3 years. Fire brigade arrangements have been made in 140 urban bodies during last 3 years as a result of which this facility has become available in all 360 urban bodies in the state. During this period, the State Government has entrusted fire brigade’s responsibility to Urban Administration Department. Earlier, it was under the Home Department.
Urban Administration Department had provided 15 fire engines costing Rs. one crore to urban bodies in year 2009-10 and 15 fire engines costing Rs. 3 crore 12 lakh in year 2010-11. In year 2012-13, Rs. 9 crore 23 lakh was provided to urban bodies for purchase of fire engines with high-pressure pumps, quick response vehicles and combi-tools. The same year, Rs. 11 crore 29 more was provided to strengthen fire brigade in urban bodies.
Special attention is also being paid to training of firemen. Training was imparted to them at Nagpur. Training sessions for them were also held by inviting trainers from outside.
