Forest Deptt. should have own ground at district and state level

Bhopal. Forest Minister Dr. Gaurishankar Shejwar concluded 21st state level forest sports competition and distributed prizes to winners. Dr. Shejwar said that Madhya Pradesh is the only state in the country to be among top 3 in all 21 All India Sports Competitions held so far. The state stood first 5 times, second 12 times and third 4 times. Efforts would be made to provide department’s own district and state level sports grounds to state’s talented players.

The Minister started prize distribution by presented special medal to Shri Narendra Singh Thakur and Sushri Ruby Kaur who won 5 medals each on the basis of highest scores in All India Sports Competition held in Goa in November 2014. The Minister gave away prizes to 137 winners of athletics, swimming, weight lifting, power lifting and indoor games. Chairman of Minor Forest Produce Cooperative Federation Shri Mahesh Kori presided over the function.

The state level competition had started on October 30 during which 350 players had participated in circle level competitions. The team selected to take part in All India Competition at Bengaluru will be imparted coaching from December 2 to 12 before leaving for Bengaluru. Instead of squash, women’s weight lifting, hammer throw and women’s swimming have been included in this year’s All India competition. There would be total 185 events in it.

At the outset, teams of East, North, West and South Zones gave salute to the Minister. Presentation of band by students of class V to IX of Campion School was main attraction.

Principal Secretary Forests Shri Deepak Khandekar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri Narendra Kumar and Sports Coordinator Shri R.K. Gupta also spoke on the occasion. Large number of sportspersons were present on the occasion.
