Four children died due to drowning in a pond in Katni. All four had left home to play on Sunday morning, did not return till evening. When the relatives arrived looking for him, his bicycle and clothes were seen on the banks of the pond. When the villagers searched in the pond, the dead bodies of all the four were recovered one after the other. On getting the information, the police also reached there.

The incident is of Chhapra Haar village of Naigawan under Sleemanabad police station area. The children who died include Shashi Pratap Singh (14), Mayank Yadav (13), Shaurya Singh (13), Dharamveer Vanshkar (11). All the children were residents of Naigawan.

The relatives told that it was Sunday. All the four children had left the house asking to go play. He did not return home till evening. We started looking for them. His bicycle and clothes were seen near the big reservoir of Chhapra Haar. The villagers who reached the spot found him in the pond. The bodies of all four were found.

SDM Pradeep Mishra told that four children have died due to drowning in the pond in Naigwa Chhapra Haar of Sleemanabad police station area. Financial assistance will be given to the relatives of the deceased. The site of the incident will also be inspected.
