Full cooperation to be extend for film-making in Madhya Pradesh: CM
Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that holding Khajuraho International Film Festival for the firs time in Madhya Pradesh is a matter of pride. There are immense possibilities of film-making in the state. The state government is ready to extend every possible assistance for film-making in Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister was inaugurating Khajuraho International Film Festival at Shilp Gram at Khajuraho today. The function was presided over by State BJP President and MP Shri Nand Kumar Singh Chouhan.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that if needed, the state government will chalk out a film policy and film industry will be given status of industry. He also said that exemption from entertainment tax may be considered. The Chief Minister said that objective behind this event is to increase number tourists and provide more employment to people. He lauded novel initiative of co-hosts of the film festival Prayas Production Private Limited and its director and film actor Shri Raja Bundela. Shri Chouhan said that Khajuraho International Film Festival will enhance prestige of both the state and country. More domestic and foreign tourists will visit Khajuraho.
Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Shri Surendra Patwa said that efforts will be made to organise Khajuraho International Film Festival every year during off season. He urged film-makers to produce films in Madhya Pradesh. Principal Secretary Culture Shri Manoj Shrivastava delivered the welcome address. The Chief Minister and Minister of State felicitated film-makers.
Inauguration of the film festival was followed by sonorous presentation of Madhya Pradesh Gaan by Maihar Band. The Chief Minister conferred lifetime achievement award to film-maker Shri Ramesh Sippy. A choreographic presentation on 100 years of Indian cinema was also made on the occasion. Film director Shri Raja Budela’s film “Alex Hindustani” was also screened. It was premiere of the film.
