Keep keen watch over sale and transport of liquor
Bhopal: During video-conferencing here today, Chief Electoral Officer Shri Jaideep Govind has directed Excise Department officers to maintain keen watch over sale and transport of liquor in view of Vidhan Sabha elections in the state. He informed that special flying squads are functioning for random searches at state and district levels. Excise officers have been directed to undertake regular inspection of liquor storages also. He asked the officers to identify the shops where liquor sale is increasing unusually. Additional Excise Commissioner Shri D. R. Jauhari informed about the plan chalked out for further streamlining of monitoring machinery. Shri Jauhari has been appointed nodal officer from the Excise Department for Vidhan Sabha elections.
Watch over bank accounts: Chief Electoral Officer Shri Jaideep Govind held discussions with officers of lead banks in districts during video-conferencing. Officers of the lead banks were asked to seek information regarding bank accounts of candidates who have joined election fray. They should also ensure whether no candidate is left without opening bank account for election expenses. The CEO directed them to keep an eye on transactions through bank accounts in their respective districts. Information regarding suspicious transactions should be given immediately to district election officers. Officers of the lead banks have also been directed to ensure better coordination with flying squads.
