Madhya Pradesh Has Eight Modern Food Parks

Bhopal. It is to be highlighted that 6 government and 2 private food parks is being functional in the state. In the government sector, food parks have been established at Malanpur-Bhind, Maneri-Mandla, Bogaon- Chhindwara, Jaggakhedi-Mandsaur, Nimrani – Khargone and Pipariya-Babai of Hoshangabad district. Similarly in the private sector, Indus food park at Khargone and Avanti food park at Dewas are functioning. Several food processing companies are running their units in these food parks. The agriculture growth rate is 20 percent at an average during the last three years in the state. Krishi Karman Award was conferred 4 times to the state due to the agriculture growth rate. In order to encourage food processing units, several exemptions are being given by the state government.

For food processing, facility of exemption in mandi charges is being given for purchase of fruits, vegetables and flowers. Moreover, exemption in electricity rates is being provided by the state government to encourage establishment of cold storage in the state.

Rice Production increased from 818 per hectare to 2438 per hectare in 10 years

Dawat Foods limited has established its image for premium quality basmati rice in the global market. Company’s’ basmati rice is not only popular in the country but it has been exported to U.S.A., U.K. Germany, France, Spain, Middle East, Australia and other countries. An ultra modern mega food processing plant was established by the company at a cost of Rs. 60 crore at Mandideep in the year 2008. The establishment of plant has encouraged the basmati rice producing farmers of Hoshangabad and Raisen districts beside farmers of the state. Rice has been procured from the farmers by the Dawat foods ltd. at a large scale. Technical guidance is provided to improve the quality of rice. Due to the encouragement, where the rice production was 818 k.g per hectare in the year 2004-05 has grown remarkably to 2438 k.g. per hectare in the year 2014-15.

It may be mentioned that Coca Cola, PepsiCo, Parle Agro, Cadbury, Ruchi Group and company like Britannia are operational in food processing sector in the state. Madhya Pradesh is no. 1 producer in gram, soyabean and pulses, the state hold second positioning production of wheat, onion and green peas. State has established its identity for milk production among the three main producers of the country.
