Madhya Pradesh to be developed as logistics hub of India

Indore: Food & Civil Supplies Minister Shri Paras Jain has said that Madhya Pradesh will be developed as logistics hub. He was addressing a workshop on the third day of Global Investors Summit here today. At the workshop, 122 proposals (EOIs) were received for developing 78 lakh metric tonne capacity warehouses with an investment of Rs. 5000 crore.
Shri Jain informed that the State Government has given industry status to warehouses. He said that Madhya Pradesh is second in wheat procurement in the country after Punjab. Investment in warehousing has been invited to store this procured wheat safely and improve storage arrangements.
Shri Paras Jain said that a policy has also been chalked out to accord industry status to warehouses. Under the policy, 15 percent capital subsidy will be given. Warehouse zones will be developed in total 10 districts. Preference will be given to silo bags construction and 10-year guarantee will be given. In the state, 3 more logistic hubs will be developed at Pawarkhera in Hoshangabad district. He informed that a target has been set to create storage capacity of 60 lakh metric tonnes in the state in next two years. Presently, the state has 25 lakh metric tonne capacity in government sector and 65 lakh metric tonnes in the private sector.
At the workshop, Additional Chief Secretary Food & Civil Supplies Shri Antony J.C. D’sa gave a departmental presentation. Warehousing & Logistics Corporation Managing Director Shri Shiv Shekhar Shukla threw light on the corporation’s activities and infrastructure.
Warehousing Development & Regulatory Authority Chairman Shri Dinesh Rai, CEO of Cahser Terminal & Infrastructure Limited Shri Sant Khare, Reliance Industries Limited Vice-President Shri Hari Bhatt and LT Food Limited Associate Director Shri J.S. Oberoy also gave presentations on the occasion.
