Madhya Pradesh Tops in Implementation of “Amrit Yojna”
Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh has done exceedingly well since beginning in implementation of ‘Amrit’ Yojna in 34 cities having population over one lakh. The state is stood at first position in the country for sanctioning and arranging over all schemes for these cities. An amount of Rs. 8279. 04 crore has been sanctioned by the union government to the state for this scheme. Moreover, an incentive grant of Rs. 33 crore 45 lakh as an incentive award has been approved by the union government recently for Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will present the award and incentive grant to Minister for Urban Development and Housing Smt. Maya Singh on September 30.
Under the Amrit Yojna, works have been started in 20 schemes costing Rs. 1435. 82 crore in the state. Process of tender is underway for 11 schemes costing Rs. 1425.15 crore. Components of Amrit yojna include water augmentation and sewage management. Under the 17 sanctioned schemes of water augmentation, works on 14 schemes costing Rs. 560.24 crore have been started and under the 13 sewage management schemes, works on 6 schemes costing Rs. 875.58 crore have been started.
Madhya Pradesh in total has received 237.35 points for 34 towns under the Amrit Yojna, on this basis Madhya Pradesh is conferred with incentive award. A wide survey on works undertaken under the Amrit Yojna was conducted by the union government related to implementation of scheme as per the guidelines. Main point of the survey were e-governance, constitution and professionalization of municipal cadre, augmenting double entry accounting, urban planning and city development plan, devolution of funds and functions, review of building bi-laws, municipal tax and fees improvement, collection of users charge besides energy and water audit.
Amrit Yojna is being implemented in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Dewas, Morena, Satna, Sagar, Ratlam, Rewa, Katni, Singrauli, Chhindwara, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Bhind, Guna, Shivpuri, Vidisha, Chhatarpur, Mandsaur, Khargone, Neemuch, Pithampur, Damoh, Hoshangabad, Sehore, Betul, Seoni, Datia, Nagda,Dabra and Omkareshwar cities.
