Madhya Pradesh will become the hub of Technical Education

Bhopal: A target has been set in the Technical Education & Skill Development Policy-2012 to develop the state as a hub of technical education and skill development. For this, selected institutions will be upgraded to model institutions. Besides preparing global-level trained manpower at these institutions, their marketing and branding will also be undertaken. Six courses will be taught in the selected institutions. These courses will be affiliated to national agencies also. Industry-institution interactive cells will also be set up in these institutions, which can also seek international cooperation for their upgradation.
Each institution to be upgraded in specific subject
Under the scheme, ITIs at the district-level, 10 autonomous polytechnic colleges at division-level and four autonomous engineering colleges in the state will be developed as model institutions by upgrading them in a specific subject. A separate scheme is being chalked out to allow private investors to start industry link course in existing institutions with a view to promoting private investment in skill development and technical education.
Nano-technology and robotics courses also be introduced
The State Government will bear cent percent expenses to be incurred on starting bio-technology, nano-technology and robotics courses in engineering & polytechnic colleges and ITIs in the state. Besides, other professional and livelihood-based courses, fashion technology, insurance, retail management, hospitality management, transport, healthcare, medical machine operator, mobile repairing, airlines personnel, custom care executive, banking options, front office management, transport management, security management and share trading courses will also be started.
Traditional skills also to be recognised
Arrangements for certification after training of traditional skills like ironsmith, carpenter, mason, potter, cobbler, bidi-maker, gau-sewak, organic farming will also be made.
Career counselling and placement society
A career counselling and placement society will be constituted with a view to ensuring employment for the trained youths. A web portal will be developed to make available unified information about opportunities existing in technical education, higher education, medical education and AYUSH sectors. Various institutions and industries will have the facility to display their employment advertisements on this portal.
There is a plan to engage such a placement agency, which can give 100 percent job guarantee to youths after training.
Digital library and multimedia centre
All the government institutions will set up digital library and multimedia centre with a view to making available international-level knowledge and information to each and every student.
Students of class X to XII will be taken to visit nearest model ITI. Besides, Darshan-sah-Niyojan Melas will also be organised at the district-level.
It is noteworthy that the state has 1099 technical institutions at present, where one lakh 68 thousand 483 students can take admission.
