Mandla district’s 20 Gram Panchayats free from open-area defection

Bhopal. Campaign is underway to free Gram Panchayats of Mandla district from practice of open-area defecation. In this series, Mehnadwani Janpad’s Phulwari and Kanhari Gram Panchayats have been declared free from practice of open-area defecation by MP, MLA and Collector on Saturday. To mark the occasion, Gaurav Yatra was taken out and pledge was administered to villagers against practice of open area defecation. MP Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, MLA Shri Om Prakash Dhurve and Collector Smt. Chhavi Bhardwaj also participated in Gaurav Yatra.

MP Shri Kulaste said that Phulwari is 20th Gram Panchayat of the district which has been freed from practice of open-area defecation. Population of over 700 in the village has benefited due to construction of toilets in houses. The MP informed that the state government has increased allocation for construction of toilets. During Gaurav Yatra, Bhumi Poojan of a CC road was also performed. Villagers were informed about demerits of practice of open-area defecation and features of Swachh Bharat Mission.
