Meeting of Gram Sabhas to be organised from October 2

Bhopal: Meetings of Gram Sabhas will be organised by Gram Panchayats in the state from October 2 under the provisions of Madhya Pradesh Panchayat Raj and Gram Sabha Act-1993. Notices about dates and times of Gram Sabhas will be pasted at Gram Panchayat buildings as well as public places. Information about it will also be given through public announcement system. This time, Gram Sabhas will mainly discuss Total Sanitation Campaign, Mid-day Meal Programme, Social Security Pension Scheme, Beti Bachao Abhiyan, Plantation Programme, social audit under MNREGA and availability of clean potable water. Lists of BPL and homeless families will also be read out at the Gram Sabhas.
Besides agenda of local issues, the proposed meetings of Gram Sabhas will also discuss ways to motivate villagers to get toilets constructed in their houses under Maryada Abhiyan to ensure total sanitation in villages. Achievements made against targets of the annual action plan under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act will also be discussed. The meetings will also discuss and make recommendations about quality of food being prepared under Mid-day Meal Scheme and Sanjha Chulha at schools and Anganwadi centres, Social Security Pension Scheme, Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension, National Widow Pension and National Disabled Pension, besides cases received under Mukhyamantri Mazdoor Suraksha Yojna.
This time, villagers will be informed at Gram Sabhas about objectives of Beti Bachao Abhiyan. They will be administered oath to save daughters on the occasion. At the Gram Sabhas, the parents with only daughters who have made remarkable achievements will also be felicitated. Applications will be collected from eligible beneficiaries under Ladli Laxmi Yojna. People will be motivated to send cent percent children to schools including school drop outs. Social audit of works carried out through Gram Panchayats will be made. It will also be informed at Gram Sabhas that arrangements should be made for payment of wages under MNREGA by opening labourers’ accounts in post offices and ultra small banks within 5 kilometer radius of villages. Information about services identified under Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act will also be given. The Gram Sabhas will also discuss Hariyali Chunri scheme and Narmada Pathway development.
The Gram Sabhas will review arrangements for bringing children below six years of age to Anganwadi centres. This will help children get rid of malnourishment. Information about Mukhyamantri Aawas Mission and other rural housing schemes will be given. At the outset of the meetings, action taken report on the decisions taken at the last meetings will be put up before the Gram Sabha. Income and expenditure will also be endorsed.
