Shivraj Singh Chouhan condemns attack at BJP office in Coimbatore

BHOPAL: Taking a serious view of desecration of statues in other parts of the country, home minister Bhupendra Singh said police are keeping a strict vigil and security is beefed up in the state to prevent such incidents.
“As of now, no incident — damage to any statue — has been reported from any district in the state. We are keeping a vigil on activities and instructed police to act sternly against any such incident,” Singh told reporters in the state assembly.
Criticising the act, the home minister on Monday said, all district collectors and SPs have been instructed to keep any eye on vandalism. He said the government also appealed to all sections of the society to maintain peace in view of rumours being spread by anti-socials.

“I strongly condemn the incident of throwing bomb at the BJP office in Coimbatore. The Leftists are agitated over losing election in Tripura. In 2021, the BJP will trounce them in Kerala — the last bastion of Left in the country— and their anxiety is obvious ,” tweeted Chouhan after incidents.
Making a scathing attack on the Communist Party of India (Marxist), BJP national general secretary and in-charge of party affairs in Bengal Kailash Vijayavargiya alleged the CPM was involved in vandalism in Kolkata and the party was trying to foment disturbance in the state.
“The CPM was involved in vandalising Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s statue in Kolkata as the party is trying to trigger disturbance in Bengal. The CPM was involved in such activities and the state government must take strict action to curb such incidents,” said Vijayavargiya, in response to queries over incidents in Tripura and Kolkata.
