To improve the quality of education across the country, the ‘one school-one campus’ model of Madhya Pradesh can be implemented across the country. NITI Aayog has recommended this to all the states. It says that schools which have less than 50 students should be merged into bigger schools. Recruitment has also been recommended to overcome the shortage of teachers. With the aim of improving the quality of education in schools, NITI Aayog started the SATH-E (Sustainable Action for Transforming Human Capability-Education) project in 2017. It was implemented in three states Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha.
Under the project, 35 thousand schools of Madhya Pradesh falling within the radius of one km were merged into 16 thousand schools. As a result, the shortage of principals in 55 percent schools was eliminated. Earlier, only 20 percent of the schools in Madhya Pradesh had principals. Due to this experiment the number of children also increased and drop out also reduced. Not only this, the burden of monitoring at least 4 schools on every officer reduced. Now Madhya Pradesh has planned to merge 53,651 single campus schools into 24,667 schools. NITI Aayog has now recommended to implement such suggestions received from the states across the country.
Of the 1.84,000 primary schools, 39,000 had less than 40 students. 35,113, one school, one campus. The shortage of teachers is over.
Through skill upgradation, 67 lakh children were prepared as per their learning ability. Improvement by 20 to 30% every year.
Opened CM Rise School. Compared to other schools admissions are increasing by 4% every year. The result of class 10th was 5% more than that of general schools.
Under Hamara Ghar Hamara Vidyalaya, education through radio-TV and internet during the time of Covid. 13 thousand teachers recruited from 2017 to 21.
Under ‘Shala Darshan’, officers were made to monitor the infrastructure and education of schools. It was made mandatory to send photographs from school. The effect was visible.
There is a shortage of more than 10 lakh teachers in the country. To overcome this, schools with less than 50 students should be merged. {In many states, 30-50% of teacher posts are vacant. There is a greater shortage of teachers in rural areas. Teacher recruitment will have to be given priority.
Develop small schools into bigger schools by integrating them. Improve students’ access to transportation facilities.
Create such a system up to the block level, where along with teachers, senior officers also feel accountable at every level.
