National conference on crop insurance at Bhopal on June 15-16
Bhopal: A national conference on crop insurance is being held at Bhopal on June 15-16 for empowering farmers by augmented crop risk management through concerted efforts. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be chief guest of the conference where eminent agriculture scientists of country and abroad will hold discussions. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan and Agriculture Minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen will speak on the first day June 15. Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa will introduce the subject. The conference will be inaugurated at Hotel Jehan Numa Palace at 10 am.
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Shri Chouhan is making efforts for chalking out such a crop insurance policy under which full relief can be given timely to farmers. Objective of the seminar is to churn out a crop-based insurance policy under which farmers need not give hefty premium and get insurance claim amount within 2 months. Efforts are also being made to ensure that the policy covers loss of production and productivity due to natural disasters and fluctuations in market prices. The new crop insurance policy also seeks to use remote sensing, satellite imagers, digital photography, weather data properly.
Apart from eminent agriculture scientists and scholars of country, representatives of foreign institutions will also participate in the conference.
