New Era for Indore, CM laid foundation for TCS project

Bhopal: The commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday ushered in a new era of development as Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid the foundation stone for the ambitious TCS Project near the sprawling Super Corridor.

The TCS’s entry into the State will open new avenues for economic development of the State, said the Chief Minister after laying the foundation stone. Chouhan said, “We are determined to provide all necessary infrastructure and facilities to TCS for the development of this campus. This will create lot of jobs for people of Madhya Pradesh and also generate revenues.”
In a major decision, the Chief Minister also announced to reduce tax on aviation fuel in the State to 5 per cent. Currently, the tax on aviation fuel was being charged up to 23.5 per cent. He said reduction in aviation fuel tax has been made to give a boost to increased air traffic in the State.
Tata Consultancy Services, a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions organisation, will set up a software development campus in Indore with an investment of Rs 500 crore in two phases. The TCS Indore campus will be located in the SEZ Area allotted by the Madhya Pradesh Government. The Chief Minister, who presided over the function, laid the foundation stone for Phase I. He was joined by other dignitaries from the city.
TCS Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director N Chandrasekaran said, “Indore is among the fastest growing cities in India by virtue of its business ecosystem and infrastructure development. The city has a good potential to transform into a knowledge hub. TCS’ investment will further boost the economy of the State by nurturing the development of talent and re-instilling inclusive growth. We are committed to working in harmony with all the stakeholders in the State to provide high-end solutions to our customers from this location.”
