No comprise with quality of works: CM
Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan no comprise with quality of works will be made in any case. Works should be completed within time-limit. Penalty should also be imposed on construction agencies delaying work. Shri Chouhan chaired the 6th meeting of Madhya Pradesh Water Corporation’s Board of Directors here today. Public Health Engineering Minister Sushri Kusum Mehdele, Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Shri Ajay Nath and corporation’s Managing Director Shri S.K. Mishra were present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister informed that electricity bills of rural piped water schemes are being paid by the state government. Responsibility to operate and maintain them lies with local bodies. Public awareness is necessary for effective operation of schemes. He said that public awareness about clean drinking water, water conservation and fee for water use should be increased. He stressed the need for undertaking information, education and communication-related activities in rural areas in campaign mode.
The meeting was informed that a target has been set to supply piped water to 40 percent population in the state by year 2018. For which, cluster village water supply schemes have been chalked out under PPP mode. Schemes’ designs, construction, finance, operation and transfer is as per Union Planning Commission’s directives.
