No Official Records of Gifts Given to Former Governor

A Right to Information Act (RTI) quest has revealed that there exists no official record of gifts given to former Madhya Pradesh governor Balram Jakhar during his five-year tenure.

Responding to an RTI query, the Public Information Officer of Raj Bhavan said that the office did not receive any gift or present given to Jakhar during his term as Governor from June 2004 to June 2009.

“All gifts or presents given to the Governor have been accepted by his OSD or personal secretaries. All this material has not been received by the Raj Bhavan (Governor’s House),” the reply said.

A Raj Bhavan official said that all gifts given to the Governor are considered as state’s property under rules.
