Nomination Open for Women and Children Awards

The awards are conferred at both state and district levels

Bhopal

The Department of Women and Child Development is inviting nominations for six awards categories for the year 2024.

The six state and district-level awards are presented to women and children for exemplary contributions in the sphere of social service and security.

The awards also recognise bravery, and acts of exemplary courage.

Applications in the prescribed format to the District Programme Officer, Women and Child Development Office before the stipulated deadline.

The awards categories are:

Rani Avantibai State-Level Bravery Award

The Rani Avantibai Bravery Award is conferred upon women and girls from Madhya Pradesh who courageously protect others from exploitation, contribute to their rehabilitation, and work to prevent social evils such as child marriage and dowry. The award consists of a cash prize of one lakh rupees, a symbol, and a certificate. The last date for applying for this award is set for 15 November 2024. The names of the awardees will be announced in February, and they will be honoured on International Women’s Day, 8 March.

Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Social Service Award

The Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Social Service Award recognises Madhya Pradesh women who have made notable and verified contributions in areas related to women’s rights, social reform, health, education, literacy, environmental improvement, economic activities, and social upliftment. The award includes a cash prize of one lakh rupees, a symbol, and a certificate.

Vishnu Kumar Social Service Award

The Vishnu Kumar Social Service Award will be presented to individuals or organisations that have made notable and verified contributions in social reform, health, education, literacy, environmental improvement, economic activities, and social upliftment concerning women. The award consists of a cash prize of one lakh rupees, a symbol, and a certificate.

Chief Minister’s Women’s Honour and Protection Award

This award is given for incidents where a woman has displayed bravery against criminal or antisocial elements to ensure her own or another woman’s safety and rescue. The applicant must have performed this courageous act between 1 January and 31 December 2024. Two women and two men selected at the state level will receive a cash prize of one lakh rupees each. At the district level, an amount of fifty thousand rupees and a certificate will be awarded.

Aruna Shanbaug Courage Award

This award is conferred for incidents where a woman has acted heroically to protect herself or another from violence. The applicant must have performed this act between 1 January and 31 December 2024. This award will be given to one selected woman at the state level, including a cash prize of one lakh rupees, a symbol, and a certificate.

Nation Mother Padmavati Award

Women who bravely defend themselves or other women against criminal and antisocial elements, as well as men who protect women, will also be honoured. The award includes a cash prize of one lakh rupees, a symbol, and a certificate.
