Over 1000 disabled persons provided government service

Bhopal: Database of 8 lakh 10 thousand disabled persons has been compiled under Sparsh Abhiyan in the state so far. Of this, government jobs have been provided to 1,006 disabled persons. As many as 14 thousand 595 disabled persons have been identified for self-employment while 3735 disabled persons have been employed by private institutions and industries.
It is noteworthy that Sparsh Abhiyan has been launched by the State Government for identifying disabled persons and extending assistance to them. So far, 1056 camps have been held in the state where disability certificates have been provided to 4 lakh 31 thousand 509 disabled persons. The camps were attended by 5 lakh 35 thousand 607 persons.
Through the Abhiyan, pension is being provided to 54 thousand 937 disabled persons. Financial assistance worth Rs. 500 has been provided to over 32 thousand 82 persons with multiple disability. The government has also solemnised marriages of 3900 disabled persons. Under the Abhiyan, 4048 cases of corrective surgery have been registered and treatment being provided. As many as 91 thousand 219 hurdle-less houses have been constructed for the convenience of disabled persons.
The State Government is distributing disability stipends to 58 thousand 315 persons. At the Sparsh Melas held under the Abhiyan, 735 handicapped children have also performed.
