Over 17 lakh adolescent girls being empowered in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: As many as 17 lakh 32 thousand 698 adolescent girls are getting the benefit of Sabla Yojna implemented in 15 districts of Madhya Pradesh. Under the scheme, girls from 11 to 18 years of age are being empowered by improving their nutrition and health levels.

Adolescent girls visiting 33 thousand 557 anganwadi centres in 1554 sectors of 98 Integrated Child Development Scheme projects are availing direct benefit of Sabla Yojna. A group of 25 girls is formed in each Anganwadi centre of which one is selected as “Sakhi” and two girls as “Saheli”. In this way, they are being counselled about health, nutrition and best ways to lead life. Vocational training is also being imparted to girls of 16 to 18 years of age.
Take-home ration is being provided to 2 lakh 80 thousand 22 girls of 11 to 14 years of age and 14 lakh 52 thousand 676 adolescent girls of 14 to 18 years by Anganwadi staff with a view to improving their nutritional status. During the last three months, tablets of iron and folic acid have been made available as per requirement to 7 lakh 62 thousand 464 girls. Similarly, health of 7 lakh 40 thousand 540 girls was also examined. Attendance of 9 lakh one thousand 540 girls is being registered during nutrition and health education counselling sessions and 5 lakh 85 thousand 994 adolescent girls in sessions on family welfare and childcare. Similarly, attendance of 2 lakh 97 thousand 756 adolescent girls was registered at lifestyle counselling sessions. As many as 32 thousand 630 girls were taken to the visit of public service institutions like post office, bank and police station.
Under the scheme, 5 thousand 820 girls between 16 and 18 years of age have been imparted vocational training with a view to empowering them. Attendance of 35 thousand 464 girls was registered in counselling sessions during the last three months (October-December). In all, 2 lakh 25 thousand 104 groups of adolescent girls were formed and training was imparted to 93 thousand 856 Sakhi-Saheli during the last three months.
Sabla Kits were made available to 46 thousand 465 anganwadi centres in 15 districts under the scheme. Discussions were held on points pertaining to Sabla Yojna at the meetings of village health and hygiene committees at 25 thousand 96 anganwadi centres in these districts. Meetings of monitoring and supervision committees were also held in 17 thousand 542 anganwadi centres in these districts. Kishori Balika Diwas was also observed at 46 thousand Anganwadi centres during the last three months.
