Police must maintain, strengthen sense of security in society : Governor

Bhopal: Governor Shri Ram Naresh Yadav has said that the police must maintain and strengthen sense of security in society. He was paying tributes to martyr police personnel of the state and the country on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day Parade at Lal Parade Ground here today. The police personnel should discharge their duties drawing inspiration from their martyr fellows. Lauding drive in the state against anti-social elements, the Governor said that the common people have heaved a sigh of relief as a result of it. On the occasion, the Governor also met relatives of the martyr police personnel, consoled them and assured to make available all possible assistance to them from the State Government.
Governor Shri Yadav told the police personnel that adequate increase in its strength for maintaining law & order and equipping the force with state-of-the-art weapons is the need of the hour. Shri Yadav said that way for all-round development will be paved by strengthening atmosphere of peace, harmony and brotherhood in society. The police personnel should discharge their duties keeping this in view. The Governor lauded the police force for putting en effective check on the activities of Naxalites, dacoits and Indian Mujahideen, prompt investigation and conviction of accused in the state. Referring to the practical difficulties of the police personnel, the State Government is alive to protection of their administrative interests. The government has taken several important decisions in this regard and special attention is being paid to implement them.
Expressing gratitude toward martyr police personnel’s relatives, the Governor assured them that the State Government, police administration and society stand by them. Lauding disciplined conduct of the state’s citizens, the Governor said that the common people must be alive to their duties along with rights and should cooperate with the police.
Paying tributes to martyr police personnel, DGP Shri Nandan Dube said that the police are maintaining a keen watch on the activities of Naxalites and terrorists and committed to maintaining peaces, law & order and atmosphere of development in any case. Shri Dube informed that the police personnel have donated blood on a large scale as a token of tribute to the martyred police personnel. As many as 1300 police personnel donated blood recently. He said that discussions have recently been held at about 1500 schools and colleges in the state with a view to increasing coordination between the police and people and creating awareness among youths. At the symposiums, youths were made aware of challenges before the police and motivated to participate in community policing. The DGP assured relatives of the martyr police personnel that all the facilities will be made available to them within the time-limit as per rules.
Those who also paid tributes to the martyr police personnel on the occasion included Lokayukta Shri P.P. Naolekar, Additional Chief Secretary Home Shri I.S. Dani and senior administration and police officers. At the outset, a pallbearer party presented a list of honour to the Governor, which was later deposited in the memorial fund. A parade gave salute to the memorial. A list of the police personnel martyred in entire country from December 31, 2011 to August 31, 2012 was read out.
