Post-matric scholarships to over 2.50 lakh SC students

Bhopal: Post-matric scholarships worth Rs. 198 crore have been distributed to two lakh 57 thousand scheduled caste students this year so far. A provision of Rs. 221 crore has been made under this head for the current year. Directives have been given to educational institutions to distribute post-matric scholarships in two instalments.

Post-matric scholarships are being distributed to students of class XI upto college level. The Union Government has fixed annual income limit of Rs. two lakh under the scheme. But the State Government has increased the income limit to Rs. three lakh per annum. For this purpose, a part of scholarship funds are being provided by the State Government from its resources. Last year, Rs. two crore 26 lakh was distributed as post-matric scholarships to two lakh 26 thousand students.

Even nowadays, camps are being organised at educational institution level to sanction post-matric scholarships in the state. Under the scheme, post-matric scholarship worth Rs. 550 per month is given to non-residential student and Rs. 1200 per month to students residing in hostels.
