Postal stamp should be released to commemorate Emperor Vikramaditya

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the Union Government should release a postal stamp to commemorate great Emperor Vikramaditya. Shri Chouhan was addressing the inaugural function of mega play “Samrat Vikramaditya” at Motilal Nehru Stadium here today. The two-day mega drama is being staged under the joint aegis of the Tourism and Culture departments.
Former Chief Minister Shri Kailash Joshi, State BJP President Shri Prabhat Jha, Higher Education and Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma, MLA Shri Vishwas Sarang and large number of art lovers and citizens were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that India has known history of five thousand years. In the ancient time when people in today’s developed country USA used to cover themselves with barks and leaves of trees, India was creating the Vedas. He said that the 19th century belonged to the Britishers, 20th century to Americans and now the 21st century will belong to India. Thousands of years ago, India had given the concept of global village, which is talked about today as a new concept. India had given concept of considering entire world as one family and wished for welfare of all. Vikramaditya was such a great Emperor of the country, borders of whose empire were spread upto Rome. His love for justice, philanthropy, protection of knowledge and its dissemination are still a source of inspiration.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the play Samrat Vikramaditya will inform the young generation as to what we were and what we have become. Congratulating the Tourism and Culture department for this, he said effort is laudable. He said that the State Government has declared Varsh Pratipada Diwas Gudi Padwa is the first day of the year and announced a holiday on this day.

The welcome address was delivered by the Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Dr. Mohan Yadav while Vice-Chairman Shri Santosh Jain proposed a vote of thanks.
