Programme to rectify and certify electoral rolls to continue till August 15

Bhopal: On the directives of Election Commission of India, work to rectify and certify electoral rolls will continue in the state till August 15. The state government has directed all divisional commissioners and district collectors for effective implementation of the programme started from March.

The Election Commission had held a video-conferencing recently with States’ Chief Electoral Officers regarding preparations for the programme. At the video-conference, directives were given regarding fulfillment of all requirements of information technology for rectification and certification programme. Instructions were given to arrange computers, internet and data entry operators for Electoral Roll Officers (ERRs). The commission has also directed CEO to send proposal to meet these requirements to the state government.

Campaign to increase awareness about the programme will continue till July 31. A special camp will be held on April 12 and monthly special camp will be held on one Sunday during next month. Directives have been given to complete 25 percent activities of the programme by April 30, remaining 30 percent by May 31, 30 percent by June 5 and 5 percent by July 31. Other activities will be completed in remaining period.
