Public service centres should be active to ensure good governance

Bhopal: Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram has said that public service centres should further improve their functioning of helping in providing public services within prescribed time-limit and thus ensure good governance. The Chief Secretary was addressing a 3-day workshop on Public Service Management at EPCO conference hall here today. The Chief Secretary said that this is a historic initiative taken by the State Government. There is need to increase people’s satisfaction level by improving the system continuously. The Chief Secretary also sought information from district public service managers from various districts about their experiences.

The Chief Secretary said that good governance is top priority of the State Government and it is also necessity of people. Functioning of public service centres should be improved further to ensure that people get services easily and conveniently. The Chief Secretary stressed the need for increasing number of public service centres, making people aware about availing services and publicise activities. At present, these centres are providing 101 services. It is noteworthy that Madhya Pradesh has been conferred United Nations Award on United Nations Public Service Day at New York in June 2012.
At the workshop, discussions were held in 5 groups. Retired IAS Officer Rajkumar Pathak, Shri Hiralal Trivedi, Shri D.P. Dube, Director Good Governance and Policy Analysis School Shri Akhilesh Argal were also present on the occasion. The Chief Secretary wished for workshop’s success. He also congratulated Public Service Management Department for securing SKOCH Award recently. Additional Secretary Public Service Management Shri Manohar Dube gave details of delivery of services to people after promulgation of Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act 2010. Nodal officers of various departments were also present on the occasion.
